Partner

David Scott Stokes  believes design is a form of problem-solving; and aesthetics is but one of the  many aspects of any potential solution.

As head of office production, David pairs meticulous attention to  detail with knowledge of how buildings are put together. More than this, he  understands the nature of materials and the craftsmanship involved in  assembling them. He is interested in exploring various techniques in communicating  the design of a building to those charged with building it.  David’s exacting approach to design  documentation balances rigorous process with strong design intuition. He has  been a strong advocate for using the latest technology to document the firm’s designs  and to adapt methods of communication to make the most efficient use of technology.

David is passionate  about continuing education, and takes every opportunity to add to his  knowledge.  Such issues  as building technology, the impact of construction and the use of buildings on  the environment and the availability of earth’s resources are of particular  concern and interest.

With over 30 years of  experience on a broad range of projects, David has specialized in housing,  ranging from high-end, single-family residences to affordable, multi-family  housing for non-profit developers. He is a graduate of Iowa State University, where he received a BA in Architecture in 1979. He has been a  Registered Architect in the State of California since 1984.
