Juan C. Ortiz graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1999 with an emphasis on community planning and housing. His academic focus at Cal Poly sparked a fascination for how the built environment affects its users. His professional endeavors include a diverse mix of project types such as multi-family housing with community and educational components. Juan’s project experience and role has varied widely throughout his many years of practice, but his focus has always been on the end user’s positive experience of their built environment and the design process entailed in bringing it to fruition.
As a versatile individual with a strong design background, Juan brings a unique sensibility not often found in the daily role of Project Management. His balance of design, technical know-how, and creative problem solving enable him to effectively lead team members, clients and stakeholders, in pursuit of a common goal on increasingly complex projects.
Recently, Juan has primarily focused on higher educational facilities with inherent challenges of complex and multi-user programs. His hands-on approach has consistently exceeded the client’s and end user’s expectations. His high standard for every project he undertakes ensures that all aspects are given the proper attention and that all goals and milestones are met every time.
Through the everyday challenges of managing projects, Juan always knows that the end result has to be a building that will satisfy the user’s pragmatic needs, but also a building that will inform, cultivate and inspire its users in their everyday lives.
